Only positive feedback about Lithuania’s presentation at the international exhibition EXPO 2017

The results of Lithuania’s participation in the international exhibition EXPO 2017 held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, were presented to the public and mass media yesterday at Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. The Lithuanian pavilion team told about some memorable moments, which were also part of the shown video.

Minister of the Environment Kęstutis Navickas was delighted with the successful presentation of our country in Astana and awarded letters of thanks to the authors of the Lithuanian pavilion. The successful presentation of our country was also emphasised by Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Darius Skusevičius. According to him, this contributed to the improvement of the country’s image and to the development of Lithuania-Kazakhstan relations.
Baurzhan Mukhamedzhanov, the Kazakhstan Ambassador to Lithuania, thanked Lithuania for the impressive presentation at EXPO, which was held in Central Asia for the first time. Vytautas Naudužas, the Lithuanian Ambassador to Kazakhstan who visited this event in Astana, used only three words to describe our pavilion and the events held there: compliments, applauses and sentiments.

According to Romas Jankauskas, the commissar of the Lithuanian pavilion and head of the Exhibitions Department of the Ministry of the Environment, the Future Energy exhibition held in Astana throughout the summer had 115 countries and 22 international organisations as participants. The exhibition received nearly 4 million visitors. The number of visitors to the Lithuanian pavilion was over 400,000. In other words, every tenth EXPO 2017 visitor was a guest of our pavilion, which stood out with its original, novel ideas.

The informative and persuasive video clips about Lithuania’s energy sector and use of renewable energy sources showed visitors how our country had secured its energy independence within a relatively short time. The artistic light installation in our pavilion received one of the main awards from the EXHIBITOR Magazine. Visitors to the pavilion were particularly interested in the virtual reality video collection, solar batteries and other exhibits.

The pavilion space, which received the name of the Sun Bar, offered a variety of events, including conferences on issues of climate change and energy, painting and photography exhibitions, and concerts. The cultural programme featuring unique New Ideas Chamber Orchestra concerts and performances by Subtilu-Z group, whose skills were also highly praised during yesterday’s event, also received a lot of attention.

The Ministry of the Environment had been assigned to organise Lithuania’s presentation at EXPO for the seventh time already. The successful performance received international recognition too: Romas Jankauskas, the Lithuanian pavilion commissar, was elected head of the commissar committee of all the 115 countries that participated in the exhibition.
