Seminar – Discussion on Rational Use of EU Assistance2008-06-11
The Environment Ministry is holding a seminar – discussion “Assistance of EU Structural Funds in the Environment Field: Experience and Opportunities” next Wednesday, June 11.
The seminar is intended for officials of municipalities, state institutions, companies, associations and public organisations interested in support from the European Union.
“Lithuania has already used approximately 83 per cent of support from the EU’s structural funds granted for the improvement of the environmental quality,” said the Environment Ministry’s Secretary Inesis Kiškis. “Among priorities were drinking water supplies and sewage management, management of past pollution and territories, establishment and management of protected and unprotected territories, enhancement of environmental monitoring, control and prevention, raising of environmental awareness and promotion of environmental education of the Lithuanian population.”
In the words of Inesis Kiškis, the use of the remaining EU funds should be focused on efforts to foster environment-protection traditions and cultural habits. It is important for our country to identify urgent environmental issues and seek the set goals during the 2007-2013 period of structural assistance.
Participants of the seminar will have an opportunity to ask questions about project implementation, share experiences and learn about new funding possibilities of environmental projects during the 2007-2013 period of structural assistance. A trip is also planned to the Neris Regional Park.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Seimas European Information Bureau, Gedimino Ave. 53 (3rd Seimas building). The start is at 11:00 a.m.
Participants of the seminar-discussion will be registered until 5 p.m. of June 10 via e-mail email@example.com (please indicate your full name and the institution you represent). For more information, please call (8-5) 266 2714.
