Lithuania to take part in the world exhibition EXPO 2015 in Milan2011-06-15
The Government has approved the suggestion that Lithuania should participate in the world exhibition EXPO 2015 to be held in Milan in four years. Currently our country is preparing for the world exhibition EXPO 2012 to be held in South Korea in the summer of 2012. The presentation of Lithuania at EXPO 2012 is organised by the Ministry of the Environment. The staff of the Ministry of the Environment together with their colleagues from the Ministry of Agriculture will also coordinate Lithuania’s preparation for EXPO 2015.
The main theme of EXPO 2015 – the nutrition of the planet and life energy – is relevant to Lithuania which has distinctive culinary traditions, cherishes its national heritage, exports natural and quality food and is constantly looking for new markets. The exhibition of such a scale also allows us to present Lithuania’s tourism, investment and export possibilities as well as economic and scientific achievements and culture.
As emphasised by Romas Jankauskas, the Commissioner General of Lithuania’s exposition in the world exhibition EXPO 2012 and the head of the Public Information and Education Division of the Ministry of the Environment, after a longer break EXPO 2015 is again to be held in Europe. Having won the right to organise EXPO 2015, Italy expects that the exhibition will feature at least 130 countries and that, in six months, it will be attended by 20 million visitors. The pavilion of our country is expected to attract about two to three million people.
The Ministry of the Environment, which will arrange Lithuania’s exposition, already has extensive experience of presenting the country at global exhibitions, EXPO 2015 being the 6th exhibition where the country’s exposition will be organised by the Ministry.
