Green buses bought from sale of emission rights start rolling in Kaunas streets

New green city buses purchased from the funds of the Special Climate Change Programme administered by the Ministry of Environment were presented to the public at the Kaunas Town Hall Square on 17 July. From today, fifteen buses will be available to residents and guests of Kaunas.

Today 14 Castrosua City Versus CNG and one hybrid Castrosua Tempus Hybrid buses started rolling along Kaunas streets. The same type of green buses have operated in the capital since late April.

By October, passenger transport companies of nine towns across the country (Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Marijampolė, Telšiai, Ukmergė and Elektrėnai) will receive 93 such buses.

Green public transport vehicles were purchased using the support under the Special Climate Change Programme. The buses were purchased using the proceeds from the sale of emission rights of Lithuania in 2011.
