Land parcel rules eased to facilitate industrial park development

Two Lithuanian ministries have tabled amendments to facilitate land parcel formation at industrial parks, free economic zones and the national port territory.

The amendments were jointly approved by Minister of Environment Kęstutis Trečiokas and Agriculture Minister Virginija Baltraitienė last week.

“These special territories attract considerable investments, so it is important to create the most favourable conditions for development there,” said Marius Narmontas, the director of the Environment Ministry‘s Territorial Planning, Urban Development and Architecture Department.

At present, simplified land parcel reallocation procedures can only be applied if the newly formed lots do not exceed 0.04 ha. Meanwhile, land parcels in Lithuania’s special economic zones are normally larger than 1 ha, making it impossible for operators to apply the simplified procedures.

Under the new amendments, the maximum size of the reallocated land lots has been fixed at 1 ha.
