Extraordinary Lithuania, a new travel guide around the country’s protected areas2016-05-16
The day after tomorrow, 18 May, the National Visitor Centre of Protected Areas will hold the launch of a new publication Extraordinary Lithuania, a guide around the country’s protected areas. The book introduces all the five national parks, 30 regional parks and 6 strict reserves as well as their places of interest.
The initiators and publishers of the guide are the State Service for Protected Areas (SSPA) under the Ministry of Environment and the publishing house Terra Publica. According to the authors of the book, their wish in the process of compiling the travel guide was to offer itineraries which travellers could follow without haste, feeling nature and stopping by the most interesting natural and cultural heritage sites.
The participants of the book launch will find out the most convenient way of using this guide and listen to the thoughts of the traveller Algimanto Jucevičius on why it is worth travelling in the protected areas. After the event they will have an opportunity to check out one of the itineraries presented in the publication by walking along the Sapieginė educational trail in the Pavilniai Regional Park with Rūta Baškytė, SSPA Deputy Director.
