Renovation programme underway in Lithuania sets an example to other countries of the Eastern Europe2016-08-12
Last week, Daiva Matonienė, Vice-minister of Environment, and Valius Serbenta, director of the Housing Energy Efficiency Agency, have visited Minsk, based on an official invitation by Alexandr Terekhov, Minister of Housing and Communal Services. Goals of the visit included presentation of the Apartment Building Renovation (Modernisation) programme underway in Lithuania, including its tasks and objectives, key implementation principles, and the role of the Government and municipalities in the renovation process.
During the meeting, delegates from Lithuania used an opportunity to present to the top management of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of Belarus the principle, legal environment, financing mechanism and institutional framework, all related to the apartment building renovation programme which is successfully underway in Lithuania. Alexandr Terekhov, Minister of Housing and Communal Services, expressed his intention to pay a visit to Lithuania and meet individual programme participants, and learn in more detail of the programme mechanism.
Daiva Matonienė, Vice-minister of Environment, is glad since the new renovation model of the Lithuanian Government, proposed and successfully implemented, is regarded as a good example for a number of EU Member States. The apartment building renovation programme in progress in Lithuania has already been presented to representatives from Ukraine, Bulgaria, and other countries.
