Lithuania passes the waste test for OECD accession2016-12-08
Last week in Paris, Lithuania took one more test for accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). At a session of an OECD working group on resource efficiency and waste management, Lithuania had to present the preparedness of its waste sector for membership in this international organisation.
According to Dalius Krinickas, director of the Waste Department of the Ministry of Environment who headed the team of specialists of the Ministry and the Environmental Protection Agency during the visit in Paris, this test was passed. Our specialists presented the institutional structure of the Lithuanian waste sector and a review of the key waste management policy principles and the legal environment, and answered questions of representatives of other OECD countries.
The preparedness of the Lithuanian waste sector for OECD membership received a favourable evaluation.
