Latest publication of the Ministry devoted to Lithuanian planned marine space2017-02-13
As the developed maritime part of the master plan of the territory of Lithuania has been approved by the Seimas, the spatial planning of the whole territory of the country has reached completion. So far we have been the only EU member state to have an integral land and marine spatial planning document.
Our country was the second one in Europe (after Germany) to approve its marine spatial plan a year and a half ago. The Ministry of environment has just issued this plan by a separate publication. The part dedicated to marine space provides for general and special marine space structures (ports, common use waterways, extraction of resources, recreation, tourism, etc.), priorities of their use, the rules of natural and cultural heritage protection, and an integrated system of indictors for monitoring the development of this space.
